Rehab Update December 2018

Time to hit the ground running! 9 months have passed since I ruptured my achilles on my talipes (clubbed) foot back in April. I am happy to say that I am making good progress …

Just before the new year, I had my first set of curve running since before the rupture. It has been an uphill battle to get to this point, but I am ever so fortunate to have an amazing team who have supported me every step of the way. As an all time first, on Christmas day I ran a 5K park run without a problem. I actually enjoyed it, which is definitely a bonus as I was never a huge fan of longer distance running before, but being unable to physically run for 8 months certainly does develop a love for it! After getting the all clear to train fully from my surgeon; Prof Bill Ribbans, we have been able to progress up to 100% bodyweight on the alter-g (anti gravity running machine). Since then, I have built some endurance in my calf to enable me to get back onto the track and I am now not far off from returning to jumping. My aim is to be attempting high jump bars by the end of January 2019.
